Virginia Peninsula Game of Week #11 - Jamestown Earns Third Win of Season, Edges York 24-21

JAMESTOWN 24, YORK 21

JAMES CITY – Kemonte Frye rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 34 carries, while Demarjia Lewis caught a 28-yard touchdown pass and intercepted two passes to lead the hosts to a 24-21 win at Wanner Stadium.

Frye’s effort undermined a three touchdown performance by York’s Jayden Flood-Brown. In the second quarter, the freshman running back ran for a seven-yard score. On the second play of Jamestown’s ensuing drive, Flood-Brown picked off a Hunter Brittain pass and dashed 29 yards into the end zone, cutting the Eagles’ lead to 17-14 before halftime.

After Frye’s second touchdown, Ramsay Hayyat found Tri Cartwright for a 43-yard pass play, which set up Flood-Brown’s one-yard plunge, cutting the lead to 24-21 with 1:33 left in the game. But a York player touched the ensuing onside kick before it traveled 10 yards, giving Jamestown the ball and sealing the game for the Eagles (3-7).

Cole Lytle led the Falcons with 63 rushing yards on 13 carries, as York finished the season 1-9.
