Race Results - 13th Annual Run for the HEART 10 Miler (submitted by the Peninsula Track Club)



The 13th Annual 10-Mile Run for the HEART was held on the tour roads of the Yorktown Battlefield on Saturday morning, February 8, 2025. The race was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 5480 with proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association.

Held under less than perfect running conditions, 78 runners competed with 64 completing the 10 Mile course on the scenic Yorktown Battlefield roads.

Both courses started and finished near Surrender Field on the Yorktown Battlefield. The 10 Mile course is USATF certified #VA23002RT and was run correctly by the runners.

Three new course age group records for the 10-Mile Run for the Heart were set on Saturday, including a new overall course record.

The winner, Jordan Spector, of Yorktown, VA set a new age group for Men 35-39 with a time of 58:29. beating the old record of 1:01:19 set by Douglas Marshall in 2013.

Not to be outdone, the top woman (and 3rd place runner) Bethany Spector, 35 of Virginia Beach, VA set a new Women's Overall course record with a time of 1:02:49, breaking the previous Women's overall time of 1:04:41 set by Saki Wilson in 2020 as well as the Women's 35-39 record of 1:08:55 set by Jessica Riggs in 2016.

Additionally, Carol Hansen-Vessa, 70 of Reston, VA set a new age group record for women 70-74 with a time of 1:36:07, besting the old record of 1:43:23 set by Patricia Travis in 2022.
